A Comforting Word on Terrorism
Ever notice that the largest part of the word terror is error? In Science and Health (page 92), by the Discoverer of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, under
the marginal heading Opposing Power, we find:
Uncover error, and it turns
the lie upon you. Until the fact concerning error namely, its nothingness appears, the moral demand will not be met,
and the ability to make nothing of error will be wanting. We should blush to call that real which is only a mistake.
The foundation of evil is laid on a belief in something besides God. This belief tends
to support two opposite powers, instead of urging the claims of Truth alone. The mistake of thinking that error
can be real, when it is merely the absence of truth, leads to belief in the superiority of error.
Then on page 191: The illusive senses may fancy affinities
with their opposites; but in Christian Science, Truth never mingles with error. Mind
has no affinity with matter, and therefore Truth is able to cast out the ills of the flesh. Mind, God, sends forth the aroma
of Spirit, the atmosphere of intelligence.
Let us know the nature of the intelligence
we're depending upon for our safety from the belief, or -ism, of terror, that it is God, good.
