Instantaneous Healing of Death!

 

In 1995, I was privileged to witness and partake of an extraordinary event. A man was reading his paper before a small group of people. I was sitting in a front seat, almost directly in front of him, when I saw him start to collapse, then fall, 'straight as a board,' backwards to the carpeted concrete floor. I ran up to him and grabbed his two hands. I saw that he was lying absolutely still--so still that there was no movement of his chest, as in breathing. I'm sure the others at the meeting were praying as soon as they saw the fall, but they may not have been in a position to know the seriousness of the situation. Because of my blocking their view, they could not see that there was no movement of the body, indicating life. 

 I was going to pray silently, but another man came up, knelt at his head, and began to pray aloud. The prayer is in the form of a declaration, what Christian Scientists refer to as the scientific statement of being, and it is found in a book entitled,  Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy.

 There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual.

The understanding of this powerful metaphysical declaration frees from the limitations of material beliefs, and brings the law of God to bear upon the situation.

(At this point, I remembered that I had heard a tape in which a man told of another healing of death. He said that in a case like this, the treatment must be given out loud. So I joined in the prayer, voicing the statement slightly softer than the gentleman's loud, forceful declaration.)

Completing the Scientific Statement of Being had not brought an apparent resolution of the problem, so I heard the man begin to say another familiar truth from Science and Health:

Both Science and consciousness are now at work in the economy of being according to the law of Mind, which ultimately asserts its absolute supremacy.

The efficacy of this powerful truth had already been proved to me, as it had come to me before in another serious situation--in response to a doctor voicing concern that my seven-year-old son might have a concussion. My son had been thrown to the window of the car with which he had collided while riding his bicycle. There was no concussion.

Joining in voicing this truth, I noticed that towards the end of the sentence, the patient's chest heaved and began to move in normal rhythm again. Then before he even opened his eyes, I felt him squeeze my right hand. As another man came forward to help the patient to his feet, I returned to my seat. This speaker was able to complete his talk without further incident.

There was a hush throughout the rest of the meeting, and when it was over, everyone soberly, full of awe at having witnessed the effectual power of God to instantaneously heal, went their way. 

The above incident occurred several years ago. It took several months before I felt that I could talk about the incident, even to others who had witnessed it. I can certainly understand the awe some of the Jews must have felt as they witnessed the wonderful works of Christ Jesus. I prayed about whether to relate this experience publicly. Because I had the strong conviction that mankind needs to know such wonderful proof of God's power and presence, this account is here to declare that God, who is all and only good, does indeed raise the dead, as during the early centuries of Christianity.                    [3/10/00]
